This is the opening of the dam's flow vavle. The retaining dam is pictured above. The opening is approximately 5' X 3' X 15'. It was used to control water retention during monsoon season in the Arizona desert. The retained water was used to hydrate large numbers of livestock which roamed free in the desert.
